In my opinion, August Rush is a kind of drama film that brings theme about life and love. The film that is produced by Richard Barton Lewis and directed by Kristen Sheridan here tells about the life of a child named Evan Taylor (August Rush) who lives far away from his parents, Lyla Novacek and Louis Connely.

This film starts from the story of Evan, a gloomy eleven years old boy, which lived in a home for boys in New York. While he was interacting with his friends, he was remembering his parents. He was dreaming to meet his mother, and had a feeling of missing her very much. He likes music very much, and has a wise word that he believes in music like some people believe in fairy tale.

Then the plot of film is flash backed to the past story of Lyla Novacek and Louis Connely. They were young musicians; Lyla was a violist, while Louis was a singer of a music band. One day, both Lyla and Louis performed in a stage of music and in a music home. After finishing their performance, accidentally Lyla met Louis in a place at night. They were falling in love each other, and were spending their night together until the morning.

Then, the story is back again to Evan who came to the home of children’s care; he asked for help to a kind man in order to help him looking for his parents, then the man gave him his phone number.

Again, the story is flashed back to Lyla who was forced to follow her father, and she was separated far away from Louis. Louis couldn’t chase her. While in a far distance from Louis, Lyla got pregnant Louis’ child, Evan. Lyla kept her pregnant until Evan got born in the hospital, then Lyla’s father entrusted him in a home for boys.

The story is continued to Evan’s life. He is alone in sad, go out from home for boys, and looking for his parents without knowing where to go. In a way, he met to a little boy who was playing music in order to earn money. Evan was interested and then follow him to a place where there were some children together playing music, and there was also a man who waiting for those children giving their money to him. Then, Evan was directly interested to the music, and learned to play music cheerfully. He could master music so fast, and made the man was interested to take advantage from Evan’s ability in music. The Man then changed Evan’s name to be August Rush. August Rush suddenly got popularity because of his music mastery. A lot of people knew him and asked him to perform in some music show.

On another side, both Lyla and Louis were so confused; they wanted to meet each other and their son. Lyla asked for help to look for Evan to the same man whom Evan asked for help to find his parents. Louis was also looking for Lyla and Evan in sadness, and in a chance he met his son.

Time by time was gone. August Rush reached his popularity, got chance to learn more music in a school of music. Some day, he had a music performance in a big music show. It invited Lyla and Louis to come in. Then finally, Lyla and Louis met each other under the stage while seeing their son’s great performance on the stage. Evan also saw his parents; he was smiling happily, and also his parents were the same.

In conclusion, this film is very good. It tells about a family’s life which its member were separated each other, and finally happy ending.
